ICSI stands for intracytoplasmic sperm injection. It is a form of IVF in which the embryologist selects a single sperm and places it directly inside an egg, rather than leaving fertilisation to happen in a dish. It is often chosen when sperm count or movement is low, or when earlier attempts at fertilisation did not work.
